I like to think I am somewhere in the middle of the lightweight bike touring thing. Carrying camera equipment suitable enough to film my journey as well as a heavy laptop for editing photos and films results in a rather heavy set up - yet not overly bulky. As a result I have reduced the rest of the kit I am carrying to minimalise weight. Transitioning from a more classic bike touring set up to a bikepacking one whilst still on the road has meant that I have retained my front panniers (now serving as rear ones) and also my rucksack. The benefit of this is that I have plenty of space for extra food and water - the longest I've gone without a food resupply is 10 days and I've carried 9L of water on certain arid stretches - however much of the time my bags remain half empty. As you'd expect with multi year trip equipment is forever changing as items break and get replaced, but below is pretty much the standard stuff that I have. All in, with a couple of days of food and a few litres of water my full set up weighs 50kg. Without the camera/laptop kit this could easily be below 40kg.
